One Month

Chase is exactly one month old today! I can't believe how fast the time is passing. He's growing so fast. It makes me a little sad to realize that he is almost done with his newborn stage. Chase continues to amaze me by being such an easy baby. Who knew that having a newborn in the house could be so delightful?!? (I thought it was just a myth!) He only seems to fuss when he needs to eat or wants to be laid down for a nap (yep! most of the time he puts himself to sleep!) I can't believe how lucky I am to get one of those perfect babies you only ever hear about! Now if only I could get such perfection to extend to Justin & Dawson! (I'm only kidding, they're doing great with their new little brother)

Close ups!

Now I might be just a tad biased, but I think I'm going to have 3 heart breakers on my hands! Oh, and Chase isn't really that chubby, it's just the way he's sitting!

So Far So Good

As many of you know I was terrified of having the 3rd kid. I could not imagine how I could possibly handle the needs of another little person since I was barely making it with the first two. But I'm pleased to say, that things are going okay. It's not as hard as I thought it would be, and so far I havn't lost my mind (not completely anyway)! Now I know this will probably all change as soon as Chase is not sleeping 18 hours a day, but for now I am grateful for this pleasant surprise! Here are some updated pictures!

My Favorites!

Nazar beat me to blogging about Chase being born, but I thought I would add my favorite pictures and thoughts! I can't believe we have 3 boys now! I know I had 9 months to prepare for this, but I'm still just so shocked to be blessed with another beautiful son! I don't know how I can possibly be so smitten with Chase so soon, but he captured my heart immediately! He is so sweet, and so far (knock on wood) seems to be the most mellow baby of my 3! Justin and Dawson are also in love with their new brother, and in fact, the challenge is trying to keep them from smothering him with hugs and kisses all the time! Life is good, and I feel so lucky (if not a little bit exhausted!). Oh, and I would like to add for the record that I was not in favor of the diaper picture in Nazar's post, I think it's disgusting, but Nazar has this weird obsession with those first few tar diapers, so I'm humoring him by not taking it off!

...and on the 27th day He was born!

The above picture was taken minutes after Chase's birth

Chase Matthew Kalayji was born on,
11-27-07 @ 7:01pm 7 lbs. 10 oz. 19.5 inches long.

The diaper picture is awesome! I love changing their diaper when their poop looks like black tar. This was one of the last tar like diapers I got to change, so I decided to take a picture of it.
We are all doing great! We want to thank all of our family and friends that have been a great help! You have been amazing!

We took this picture on DeAnne's Birthday 11/27/07,
Little did we know that Chase (that can be found in this photograph in DeAnne's small belly)
shortly joined our family! More to follow on that exciting news!
Below was the first time Justin or Dawson had their pictures taken with Santa!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I know I've posted a few of these pictures already, but as I am thinking about what I am thankful for this morning, these pictures are the best representation I have have right now!

I can't believe how lucky I am! I have such an amazing family I can hardly believe it! Nazar is the best husband ever (and I'm being dead serious!) He is so sensitive and helpful that I almost feel guilty for getting to keep him for all eternity! Justin is the most kind and loving 4 year old I've ever met. It's almost freaky how aware he is of other people's feelings. And Dawson is so spunky he makes your head spin! I predict that he will be the jokester of the family, he is so dang hilarious at less than 2 years old! So this Thanksgiving, I am truly grateful for my amazing family and all that they bring into my life!

Crazy Dream

As noted in the title, I had the craziest dream last night. I was in a low lit room with someone I didn't recognize. I don't remember what we were talking about but it had something to do with the devil. After a couple of seconds, he told me that he was in the room with us. I asked him where he was. He pointed to the other side of the room which was roughly 10 feet away. I got really scared because it was Satan and that I couldn't really see him. I asked him if he was still there and he said yes!

I don't know if it was because of all these years of going to the temple that made me unconsciously raise my hand to the square and commanded him to leave in the name of Jesus or just because I didn't know what else to do. I know that reading this doesn't make you scared, but in my dream, it really freaked me out. So anyway... As I started to do this, he slowly started to come after me. (I felt like Harry Potter in the first book when he saw He Who Must Not Be Named in the forest coming after him) I realized that although I was going through the motions, I doubted that what I was doing was really going to repel this monster that I couldn't really see! But after what seamed like an eternity, I mustered up the faith to believe in what I was saying. So I started to say it again and again each time getting louder and louder. I could feel my body shivering and trying desperately not fall apart. It felt so real and intense. After a couple of seconds, Satan finally withered away and left us alone.

After I woke up this morning, I got to thinking that I was really happy that I knew exactly what to do and didn’t hesitate in doing the right thing! I just wish that this experience was a true reflection of all of the actions in really life:)

Garage Sale!

We have been married for almost 7 years now and have never done a garage sale or have ever been to one. But this Saturday from 6 to 9am we are going to attempt to make one happen. Please don't laugh at us. Aside from the byproduct of money we really want to get rid of stuff we have collected over the years and free up some of our space in the garage.

So.. if you are in the neighborhood or want to make a special trip from the other side of the world, we'd love to sell you an old pair of shoes for a dollar:)

(okay so this really isn't our garage, but just to give you guys an idea..)

still small voice

this morning while driving to work, i was in the fast lane going around 80 miles per hour as normal. i was listening to some church music and just contemplating about the days events. as i was thinking.. i felt like i should slow down and go less than 80mpr. at first i didn't want to obey, i was late as it was to a meeting. but after a second prompting, i decided that i would listen and dramatically reduce my speed to 75mpr. i think within 30 seconds, i looked in my rear view mirror and saw a cop! i then proceeded to drop my speed down to 70 by taking my foot off the gas peddle. when i did this i also changed my lane to the right and hoped and prayed that i would not get pulled over. to my great joy, the cop pass by me and all went well! just wanted to make shout out to the big HG for the help this morning.

I love Dawson's profile!

three weeks left

Wow I can't believe that there is only three weeks left til’ Mr. Chase Mathew Kalayji makes his debut into the world(give or take a week)! Life as we know it will no longer be the same. Sleeping more than three hours consecutively will only be a mere distant memory that we hold on to for dear life. Trying to get ready to go out of the house with the three boys and into the car will be a great accomplishment all on its own.

Why do we lds people do such crazy things as having so many kids back to back is clearly insane to the outside world. I guess the reason we keep on doing it(DeAnne might disagree) is because it truly brings us the most amazing sprit(sometimes the bad kind) to our home:) Might be a tad cliché, but I can't think of anything else in this world that is more gratifying than seeing the boys grow.

Halloween

Wow, was I surprised to read the last entry on this blog! Someone's on a power trip!! No, what's really happening here is that Nazar and I decided that because of my lack of dedication to blogging, he would also add fun stories and pictures here, so that we could try to give you more than a bi-annual update on our family! Apparently he just forgot about the part about me still being involved!! (I love you sweetheart!)

Anyway, on to more exciting things. This year we had a great halloween. It was a day that had a lot of anticipation leading up to it. Back at the beginning of October the search for Justin's perfect costume began. Up until this year, I have always had free license over what the boys would be, and for some silly reason, I thought that this year would be no different! Well apparently 4 years old is the cutoff, because Justin had very strong opinions this year. I tried with all my might to convince him to be a punk rocker (I know that sounds a little unconventional, but if you could see the costume in my head, you'd understand!), but he resisted saying that he wanted to be Buzz. Well after many negotiations (I know, I'm a horrible mom for trying to convince my 4 year old to let me have my own way!) the final conversation that secured his halloween fate went something like this:

"Mommy, if you really want me to, I'll be a punk rocker"
Long Pause
"But in my heart, I just feel like I really want to be Buzz Lightyear."
Now, how can you argue with that?!? So here are his Buzz pictures, and I have to admit, he did make an adorable Buzz!

Dawson was a little bit easier to convince. He is completely in love with animals, especially the ones that make fun sounds, so all I had to do was talk to him about being a lion, and what sound a lion makes, and he was game. He did have a few issues with the hood at the beginning, but candy bribes worked wonders to get him to wear it!

So Halloween brought with it many activities this year. First was our ward trunk or treat which Justin and Nazar had a lot of fun at. (Dawson and I were not able to attend because Dawson had the flu) Then on Halloween we had a jam packed day. Dawson, Nazar and I had fun at Nazar's work party during the day (Justin was at school) where Dawson quickly learned that all he had to do was stalk Nazar's co-workers around the office with his pumpkin outstretched and they would reward him with endless amounts of candy! Our next stop was Justin's school where they put on a Halloween program which included all the kids singing songs. I must admit that I was a very proud mom as I watched Justin up there singing! Then we rounded out the night by going to our friends house for treats and then trick or treating. Justin loved it, Dawson had a meltdown after 15 minutes, and that ended the night! Whew what a day!

under new management

I am sorry to report that kalayji.blogspot.com will no longer have DeAnne as author. Nazar has been assigned to fulfill this task. I hope to continue to provide the avid readers something interesting about the Kalayji family each week. Please stay tuned for more memorable stories about trips to the hospital and other fun events that are without fail experienced by the kalayji family.

Medical Drama!

So it's been a few weeks now, but for those of you who don't know, we had our first real emergency room trip. The boys and I were playing at the Carl's Jr. playground, when Dawson tripped and fell head first into a metal chair leg splitting his forehead right open. As you can imagine, there was blood everywhere, and it took a lot of will power for me not to freak out. Luckily I was with a friend of mine who was able to help me stay calm and get the bleeding under control. Well Nazar met us at the emergency room (thank goodness!) and talked to Dawson the whole time while the doctor was stitching up his head and I cried and acted like a bigger baby than Dawson. Overall, I was way more traumatized by the event than Dawson was. The only thing that really upset him was that they strapped him down so he couldn't move. As soon as they let him go he was happy as can be!

The other new medical development in our family is actually mine! I've had a nasty unexplained cough for weeks now, that seems to be getting progressively worse. Well after dragging my feet for days (I didn't want to be told "it's just viral, there's nothing we can do about it") I finally went to see the doctor this morning and was told that it was asthma! I was floored by this! I thought only children had asthma, but apparently it can show up at any age. So after a breathing treatment and a nice cortizone shot (i'm not sure if that's what it was really called) they sent me home with half a dozen medications including 2 inhalers. So far everything seems to be helping, and hopefully I can get this under control soon so I won't have any more attacks!

Justin's Birthday

Justin's birthday was a 3 day event this year. On his birthday my mom came out and we got the kids pictures taken (note the photos in previous post!) and took them to Chuck E. Cheese. On Saturday was Justin's birthday party at Pump It Up. That is a place with giant inflatable bounce houses, slides, and obstacle courses. I think most everyone had a great time, especially Justin until the last few minutes when he threw up! I think it was from all the excitement because after a little while he was fine. Anyway, I highly recommend throwing parties there because it was so easy for me, and so much fun for the kids. His last birthday celebration was on Tuesday when we celebrated with Nazar's family. Justin loved his birthday this year and is already talking about next year!

Finally Posting!

So after a month long break, I'm ready to post again. It's not that I havn't had anything to post about, I just didn't feel like it! But after getting these pictures of the boys taken, I'm feeling inspired again. So for now I'll just post these, and hopefully I continue to be motivated and post all the wonderful pictures of Justin's birthday celebrations in a timely manner!

Updates

So I havn't been feeling inspired as to what to post about lately, and I'm actually still not, but I figured I'd at least give the updates of what our family's been up to lately. A few weeks ago we took a 3 day trip to San Diego where we went to the Wild Animal Park and Sea World and spent plenty of time playing in the pool at our hotel (that was Justin's favorite part!) We all had a lot of fun, but boy, vacation wears me out! I always feel like I need recovery time from vacation! Since then we've been busy with Justin's school, swimming lessons, and hanging out with friends. Monday we had our big ultrasound and were able to see that the baby looks great and has all the parts he's supposed too, and yes, we confirmed that it is indeed a boy! I realize that this is the first time I have mentioned anything about this pregnancy on the blog, but I'm assuming that everyone who reads this has known that we're expecting for ages. If anyone is finding this out for the first time, I apologize for the late news, and chastise you for not keeping in better touch with me! Aside from all that we're just enjoying life. It seems that we keep getting busier, and I'm sure that will continue to be the case as we welcome another member to our family later this year!

The 1 Day Mohawk!

So Nazar has a habit of cutting the boy's hair without consulting me, and last week was no different. He decided Justin needed a haircut and starting cutting it with a number 2 (way too short if you ask me!) before I could say anything. Well I went upstairs to shower, and a little while later Justin comes running in to show me his new do! A perfect 2 inch mohawk sticking up from his now practically bald head! He was completely ecstatic about it, but it gave me flashes of his upcoming punk teenage years when he is no longer my sweet mommy loving little boy. Suffice it to say, I told Nazar to cut it off. Well apparently this was the meanest thing I could have said to Justin because he had a complete meltdown. He sobbed and screamed and begged to keep his mohawk. Well eventually we came to a compromise and decided that he could keep the mohawk for the day and that we would take lots of pictures so he could remember it. 2 hours later he was ready to cut it off, but he sure loved it while he had it!

Just Me And The Boys

With the addition of our second son Dawson to our family last year, I'm completely outnumbered. At times it seem like life is just one big noisy, dirty, wrestling match! But really I couldn't be more happy! Justin and Dawson are so much fun (most of the time!) It's been so fun to watch them grow and develop. In an attempt to share our stories and pictures with those of you who are interested, I'm starting my first blog. My plan is to keep you updated on what's going on in our lives, but I reserve the right to slack off every now and then! After all I do have a 3 year old and a 1 year old!
